I have to say, the Opry Classics show is by far the best. I really don't care to listen to the regular Opry anymore. They don't have hardly any of the legends !!

Is the Opry Classic Show a weekly show or just a one time thing? I used to watch the opry when it was on CMT, since it moved to GAC not as often. GAC seems to show mostly the newer country singers, I prefer the best, by that I mean the older stars.

The Opry DOES feature traditional artists; however, the main ones that people hear are the "new country" singers--I guess the Opry staff feels that they are the only ones people want to hear. The ones on the TV shows were the newer stars, used to attract the younger audience. However, on XM/Sirius satellite radio, they do play recorded Opry performances (usually the ones on the Opry a week before it is aired) and they do feature the more traditional stars. I think it's called Grand Ole Opry Encore, or something like that. I usually hear it on a Saturday night. And I also prefer the traditional music. I stopped watching the televised version after I couldn't recognize anyone on there, anymore! I don't keep up with the newer ones, and had no clue who most of them were!

Yes, I enjoy that show a well. I find it sad that CMT stopped having the Opry on, but as you said the TV version is all the new stuff. Not that there are not some good acts, but why can't they still feature the legends too while we still have them to enjoy ???
