What did everyone think of the CMA Awards Show? I recorded it and watched it the next day, did a lot of fast forwarding. Not too much country! I was dumbfounded watching Taylor Swift's opening act, that's country? Yes, she entertains but she's not country, sorry. Sad.

I used to watch Award Shows but now I don't even flip to that channel. It is a cryin' shame what country music has gone to.

I turned on the TV last year and asked myself "Am I on the right channell? This don't look like Country Music to me."

I agree with what George Said last week all the way!

I'm with you JetSet...I can not get into the awards show's anymore and I don't care if some singer's don't like the term Pop Country, because that is exactly what it is..I wish traditional country would come back.

And they can even drop the word "country" from "pop country"--it's not country at all. Just because some of the songs have a little fiddle and steel in them, doesn't make them one bit country. You could add fiddle and steel to any type of song and it won't make it "country".
I've always been saying what George said, that brought him so much scrutiny over the past week. Ask anyone who knows me. It's a shame when you can't tell if a radio station is top 40 pop/rock, or country, but that's what's been happening to me a lot. I'll go into a store, or ride in a cab, and there will be a radio playing. We have a rock station here in town, and a country station, and honestly, the music on both of them sound alike.
I don't watch the awards shows anymore, because I don't enjoy the majority of the music. If they do have someone traditional on, maybe I'll flip the channels back and forth until that person comes on, because I don't care for the music. Oh, believe me, I do love other genres of music, but if I am in the mood to hear traditional country, that's what I want to hear--not someone pawning themselves off as "country" when they obviously are NOT.

I first saw Carrie Underwood on the CMA awards singing "Jesus Take The Wheel" - she did a great job.
I last saw her on Dave Letterman's Country Music Week and thought she was raunchy.

I only watch if I know one of the legends is going to be on, and then I only watch that part. The awards are nothing more than a posturing for new acts to get more exposure and sales. It is all done by who they want to be the next big thing. It's no longer a measure of talent just another way to make $$

To me, the Awards used to be like the Super Bowl is to everybody else. I recorded about 20 years worth. But I stopped recording 6 years or so ago, and probably should have before that. It isn't worth 2 cents anymore.
