Like to know what everyone thought about the CMA Awards Show. I watched about an hour of it and couldn't take anymore, felt like I was watching a rock show instead of country. I enjoyed George Strait and Alan Jackson but that was it. Can't understand how Taylor Swift got a recording contract and a few others of the new female entertainers aren't much better. Not much to say about the male entertainers either, sure wish they would wash and style their hair. I know I'm probably showing my age but I remember country when it was still country!

You are not alone. I walked in the house and asked my wife what she was watching. She said the CMA awards. so, I sat down to watch and I could only stand it for about 20 min. You are right about it being a hard rock show. It made me sick. Even Martina, with her yelling and screaming drove me crazy. I had to leave the room. That's my take on the CMA awards. It sure wasn't country.

The CMA is a joke anymore. I used to watch like it were the Superbowl, but it is so sad to see how it is no longer country and how they disregard the past. I remember the days when the Hall of fame award was a segment within itself; the inductee was usually surprised, they would show clips of career highlights, and the inductee got to come on stage. I used to love the CMAs, but it is garbage anymore.

Hi Sharon
As far as I am concerned it will still be under my stairs at home in the form of 3000 vinyl LPs, pure country you can not buy now they don't write or sing it.

You know....I can't even comment on that show. It was just disgustingly "NEW" country in every way shape and form.
It's just too bad. I don't think we need wait 20yrs...think what it will be like in 5!!
That's all I have to say about it!

I have not watched the awards shows in years. I did watch the entire thing this time......since I was one of the line dancers during Alan Jackson's performance. That's the only reason I saw the entire thing. I heard someone give a different meaning to CMA rather than Country Music Awards show.....it's the Country My A$$ show LOL I have to agree. What I did find TOTALLY ironic is that while the tv audience watched commercials we were shown clips of past performances from the CMAs. Dolly, Loretta, Crystal Gayle, Barbara Mandrell, Jerry Reed, Tennessee Ernie Ford, etc. That was the most enjoyable part!

WOW! a line dancer Huh? were you in his video too! I like the vidieo with George and Nancy in it.
the Song Who's Gonna Fill there Shoe's is quite a title if you think about all the Country stars since Hank Williams, Johnny and Jack, Roy Acuff, June carter, the Carter Family, lonzo and oscar comedy songs such as I am My own Grandpa, Hardin trio tippy toeing, the browns and the 3 bells. Charley pride's Christams in my home town album, it's a christams album but true to country roots.
If you ask any of the new singers I'd ask them if they Remember johnny and jack, Lonzo and oscar, The Browns, or The Hardin trio. They would not have a clue. and these people sing country on the very road these people I mentioned paved for them. there answers would be NO to the question do you know who they are. I do understand you can't hang on to the past but the music is missed.

Many of these same stars are still making new music today, including George. So,in my opnion, even though alot of radio stations(not all,but alot),and the CMA's would love to have us fans believe these stars music are in the past,we fans know better.
I got an invite to be in the Alan Jackson video too,but had to decline.
