Congratulations GEORGE and Nancy! You both looked great sitting next to President Bush!!!
What an honour to see your life pass before you and have the likes of Brad Paisley (Bartender Blues), Randy Travis (One Woman Man), Alan Jackson (He Stopped Loving Her Today) and Garth Brooks (The Grand Tour, The Race is On) sing your songs.
It was soooo touching to see a tear slip from George's face during Brad's performance. But all the rest, you could see he was moved and considered it a true honour to be there.
What a memorable night!!!! Wonderful show!

I agree George and Nancy looked great sitting next President Bush and the First Lady. I thought it was extra special that The First Lady introduced George. George looked handsome and Nancy looked so beautiful. It must have been quite an honor to see your hits sung by some of Country Music's greatest artists. I did see the "tear" during Brad's performance. What a magical night for both George and Nancy smile.gif

Congratulations to you both.

Thank you George for all the music you have given us through the years and continue to give us!
You truly are # one biggrin.gif

I too saw the show, I could not have seen a more likely Group of Entertainers so deserving of this Honor.

George Jones, the WHO, Morgan freeman, Barabra Striesand And Ms Thorpe whom I did not know at all. I am a music lover and I too enjoy the Who and there legacy. George Bush was singing along with Brad and Garth Alan and Randy travis.

I worte too Nancy about my feelings not sure if I will get a reply but I thought it was wonderful for all those there, George especially, Nancy looked as beautiful as Ever.
George You keep a swelled head for awhile, you deserve it live it love it and just be yourself!

I watched the show and thought it was great. I thought also that it was quite an honor to be introduced by the First Lady. I thought he got quite an ovation at the end.

I have a side question. I like Randy Travis a lot, but I'm wondering if he's been sick or had vocal chord problems in the last few years that I was not aware of. It seems like when he performs in the last few years, his voice sounds like he's just getting over laryngitis or something. By his facial expressions, it looks like it's a strain to perform. My wife is a HUGE fan and she commented the same last night.

I LIKED HOW THE VIDEO ENDING BY SAYING '' GEORGE JONES, STILL THE KING OF COUNTRY'' !!!!SO TRUE!!!
DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE ROCK SINGER ROB THOMAS SINGING ALONG TO ALAN JACKSON ON '' HE STOPPED LOVING HERE TODAY '' !!
davidg422008
yes, I too thought Randy was struggling with the high notes and even burying the low notes.

He too is getting older, voices change as we get older but Randy sounded good I thought. Alan Jackson did a great Job with He Stopped Loving Her Today, he rounded the notes of the song very nicely. They all sang Georges music well. I have to say Rob thomas did a great job with the Who's music too. Who was the band? the piano player was great he came on and executed his part very well indeed in all the songs. George's too. The drummer was great too. to be honest that whole group had there Poop In a group and played better than most bands do.

I thought Randy seemed to struggle alittle also. But voices do change as we age but I agree overall Randy did sound good. Alan Jackson did an excellent job I thought. I really enjoyed watching the looks on George and Nancy's faces. You could see the pride and love in her eyes. They make such a beautiful couple biggrin.gif

Well, for those of you who thought Randy sounded good, I guess my question must seem strange. To me, it wasn't a matter of a voice changing with age, it was the strain in his voice and the look of struggle on his face; his voice seemed all over the place and sounded like he was getting over laryngitis or something; to me , that's how he has been the last few times I've heard him perform. I'm certainly not trying to be negative just for the sake of negativity: I'm a fan, but the way he sounded, I just thought he might have had vocal problems in the last few years or something.
But I guess mine and my wife's ears are what has the problem rather than his voice. biggrin.gif
