Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Buck Owens.

I am glad Buck and I got to spend some time together on his recent west coast tour. He was a wonderful friend and he will be dearly missed.

The Country Music Hall of Famer died of an apparent heart attack just hours after performing Friday night (March 24) at his Crystal Palace restaurant, club and museum in Bakersfield, Calif., according to his longtime spokesman, Jim Shaw. Owens celebrated friends and icons such as George Jones and Merle Haggard less than a year ago when commemorated them with bronze statues at the Crystal Palace. GEORGE JONES REMAINS A COMMITTED BANDIT !

Nashville, TN (3/20/06)—Despite other reports, GEORGE JONES remains signed to and continues to record for BANDIT RECORDS, a label he co-founded and is a partner in. Keith Stegall also remains Jones’ producer of choice.

Jones has agreed to record one song as a ‘guest artist’ for Category 5 Records as part of a tribute album they are producing to honor Jones’ long and remarkable career.

“We agreed to cooperate and assist Category 5 Records in their efforts to pay homage to George Jones,” said Evelyn Shriver. We will let you George Jones Fan’s know more when the project is released.
