FORT WORTH - After a life punctuated by so many missed concerts that he long ago earned the nickname No Show, Texas native George Jones has recently settled into a groove that finds him, at 74, a model of consistency.

Like his concerts in 2002 and 2003, his show Friday night at Bass Hall was slick, smooth and graced by the pinpoint efficiency of his six-man Jones Boys band, and a catalog of hits that spans more than five decades.

GEORGE & NANCY TO OPEN POSSUM HOLLER

Country legend GEORGE JONES is adding restaurateur to his impressive resume after announcing plans to open a Southern-style diner in Enterprise, Alabama. The singer/songwriter, who owns his own bacon, barbecue sauce and bottled water enterprise, is planning his latest culinary venture with his wife NANCY. The restaurant, called Possum Holler, will be decorated with memorabilia from Jones’ career and will open for business later this year (06). Look for more coming soon

GEORGE BRIGHTENS A FANS DAY!

Georgetown woman recently received an unexpected, but much appreciated, phone call. The call came for Betty Pelfrey, 68, while she was in Georgetown Community Hospital with a lung ailment, said Betty’s daughter, Robin Pelfrey.

When Betty heard the voice of country music star George Jones on the the other end of the line, “it just brightened her day,” Robin said. “You wouldn’t believe the expression on her face, ” she said.

THE POSSUM RESCUES THE YELLOW LAB
