A new duets album from Jerry Lee Lewis will be out Sept. 26. Last Man Standing was five years in the making and includes duets with country icons like George Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and Kris Kristofferson. For the first time in 25 years, since the album Yesterday’s Wine, country stars Merle Haggard and George Jones are recording an album together, entitled Kicking Out The Footlights on Bandit Records. Haggard will record five of Jones’ songs and Jones will record five of Haggard’s songs, and they’ll do four duets.
Best of all, fans can get an up close and personal experience with the legends that have influenced the past 50 years of country music when they perform live at City Hall in the Gulch for the TV taping of CMT’s “Cross Country” on Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. Limited tickets are available at www.CMT.com.
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Ricky Medlocke has his way, the group’s involvement in country music won’t be limited to participating in last weekend’s CMA Music Festival in Nashville.
