HANGING WITH THE POSSUM

11/17/10

10 Questions for George Jones
By Callie Enlow - San Antonio Current

OK, we didn’t actually hang out with legendary country singer George Jones or get anywhere within a 500-mile radius of him. But we pretty much lost interest in Jones since we learned he’s sober and thus unlikely to take us on a late-night riding lawnmower spin to the liquor store. Just kidding! The 79-year-old troubadour and entrepreneur hasn’t slowed down since cleaning up, though he does limit performances to about 60 per year. That means seeing the Possum belt out “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” or any of the other famous tunes from his 50-plus-year career, is a treat as delicious as George Jones Country Sausage, or George Jones Country Gold Cat Food, or George Jones Country … well, you get the picture.

COUNTRY MUSIC TREASURE GEORGE JONES VISITS CORONADO PAC

11/08/10

CountryStarsCentral
It wasn’t just any ordinary day in Rockford, Ill on Friday November 5th, 2010 and that’s because country music icon George Jones was in town to make a rare appearance at one of Rockford’s most charming and historical venues, The Coronado Performing Arts Center for a sold-out performance. The theaters majestic structure and rich décor made the concert even more special on the beautiful brisk fall evening.

The show began with opening act Brittney Allyn backed by George’s band “The Jones Boys.” George’s band members possess an extraordinary talent for their instruments and their love for music and for George were clearly prominent during the entire show. I’d also like to point out an extremely talent young man named Billy who plays fiddle for Jones. Billy’s only twenty-five years old but his honed skills on the fiddle are absolutely remarkable!! more!

NANCY AND GEORGE JONES CHRISTMAS LIGHT DISPLAY

11/08/10

Dear Friends and Fans:

Over the years, the success of our Christmas light display and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause has grown to the point that our private street can no longer accommodate the heavy flow of traffic. It is with great sadness that we are announcing we will not continue the event this year.

It has been our absolute pleasure to have the lights each year for everyone to enjoy. The added pleasure for us came from the money we raised for charity and the toys we have collected for the less fortunate children in our community. We ask that you continue to support these causes as you have over the past years.

We wish you and yours the most wonderful holiday ever and a very Merry Christmas!!!

Sincerely,

Nancy and George Jones
