“GEORGE JONES WEEK” TO KICK OFF WITH UNVEILING OF MONUMENT

George Jones, who passed away at the age of 81 in April, will be honored with a week of festivities in Nashville. “George Jones Week” will kick off on Monday, November 18 with the unveiling of a monument and a special announcement by his widow, Nancy Jones, at Woodland Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and Memorial Park. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Then, on November 21-22, Terri Clark, Troy Gentry, Darryl Worley and Daryle Singletary will take the stage to help celebrate Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge’s 53rd birthday. The Broadway street party will be hosted by Storme Warren and is the kick-off event for the George Jones Tribute Concert, set for November 22.

The tribute concert, dubbed “Playin’ Possum! The Final NO SHOW,” will take place on November 22, the date George Jones was originally set to perform the final show of his storied career. The all-star lineup is extensive, including Alabama, Alan Jackson, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Charlie Daniels, Dierks Bentley, Emmylou Harris, Eric Church, George Strait, Josh Turner, Kathy Mattea, Lee Ann Womack, Lee Greenwood, Little Jimmy Dickens, Martina McBride, Megadeth, Miranda Lambert and Vince Gill, just to name a few.
