GEORGE JONES POSTPONES APRIL 20 & 21 SHOWS

04/17/12

Country Legend George Jones remains at his Tennessee home recuperating from upper respiratory infection. Doctors have advised Mr. Jones to remain home and continue resting for another week. Therefore, shows in Minnesota and South Dakota for this coming weekend will need to be postponed and rescheduled.

“I never want to cancel a show, but I have to do what the doctors tell me,” says Jones. “I thank all the fans from the bottom of my heart for their prayers and I look forward to seeing them on the road soon.”

ELUSIVE GEORGE JONES ANSWERS SOME QUESTIONS AHEAD OF PEORIA CONCERT

The Possum has lived up to his nickname over the years, at least during his infrequent passes through Central Illinois.

If not playing possum literally, country legend George Jones has managed to scuttle under the media radar.

Prior to Saturday’s impending Peoria Civic Center show, the Possum’s last pass through was seven years ago at Illinois State University’s Braden Auditorium.

The ISU show’s promoter agreed Jones’ interview average hadn’t much improved since the last time we’d checked.

LETTER FROM GEORGE

02/22/12

Dear Friends:

My granddaughter Breann is once again preparing to go on a mission trip with her church and this time she is going to Guatemala. I normally would not even mention this to anyone but in this case I am making an exception because as many of you know, my beloved grandson Carlos is from Guatemala and now his sister has the chance to go there on a mission trip and experience where her brother came from and most importantly to help the people there. She is raising money for her trip but please don’t feel obligated to support, however, if you do so it is greatly appreciated.

Kindest regards,
George Jones

George Jones, The Allman Brothers Band and Glen Campbell joined Antonio Carlos Jobim, The Memphis Horns, Diana Ross and Gil Scott-Heron in each receiving a tribute at the organization’s Special Merit Awards ceremony Saturday afternoon at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre.

Honorees crowded a small red carpet, catching up with one another and talking to the news media before heading into the theater for the ceremony, which academy President/CEO Neil Portnow predicted would frequently move the room to tears. “It’s a very emotional day,” Portnow said.
